FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
For all your general question in regards to Tacloban.Biz - this website, the people behind the offer, the services that can be choosen, etc. If you can't find the information you require, then feel free to send us an email, or use the form on the Contact Us page. - Why this kind of offer?
Several years ago, the main entity (who resides in Australia) of Tacloban.Biz went to the Philippines, fell in love with a beautiful woman there (and got married to her), as well as the beautiful country and it's people. This affair developed into a great connection to Tacloban, the woman's home town, and was developed as a way to give something back to the city.
- Where did it start?
Everything started with the initial purchase of the tacloban.biz domain name, simply as the only top level domain extension available while only using the word Tacloban. Even back then, the plan was to offer the services that are still on offer today. After many long stays in Hotel Alejandro, a website was created for them and then offered to them for their use. This created the first client for Tacloban.Biz.
- How do the different services work again?
Ok, here it is laid out. The first choice is a Full Service* which includes site design, site hosting, site maintanence, co-branded subdomain, co-branded email, choice of domain extensions, search engine submission and general help. The other services are as follows; Site Design* - purely design/create a website only; Site Hosting* - host a site created either by Tacloban.Biz, or else where; Site Maintanence* - maintain and edit an already created website; Co-Branded Subdomain & Co-Branded Email* - to have site hosting, there must be co-branded subdomain and co-branded email (see below to understand this concept); Search Engine Submission* - the site, even if not created and hosted by Tacloban.Biz will be submitted to the top level search engines; General Help* - any general help that Tacloban.Biz can be in relation to the type of services offered. Also, as an emplanation Domain Extensions - as Tacloban.Biz grows and aquires new top level domain extensions, the client will have a choice of the domain name ending, e.g. .biz, .mobi, etc. * Please see the "Terms & Conditions" for more information.
- What does "Co-Branded" mean, subdomain mean and what choices of names & domain extension can I have?
Co-branding simply means that the subdomain (for information from Wikipedia.org, click here) and email address will have both the client's name and Tacloban.Biz's name in it. For example: The subdomain for Hotel Alejandro is alejandro.tacloban.biz, and their email address is contact@alejandro.tacloban.biz (this email address is not used by the client). In this example, you can clearly see that both names are used - both the client and Tacloban.Biz. Subdomain simply means that the full domain name of the client is a joining of their name and Tacloban.Biz. As for what name is to be used for the client - this is up to the client (keep in mind, the shorter the better). So basically this means that your domain name/URL/website address could be something like your_business_name.tacloban.biz, and your email address something like your_name@your_business_name.tacloban.biz. Domain extension can be any extension that is in the Tacloban.Biz family. At this stage, the current extensions are .biz, .me & .mobi.
- How do I log onto webmail so I can check my email?
First of all you need to follow this link to the webmail page. Your login name is your full email address, e.g. your_name@your_business_name.tacloban.biz. If this is the first time you've loged on, then your password will be the one given to you by Tacloban.Biz (please change the password after your first log in too one of your own choice), otherwise it will be the new password that you have chosen. After logging in, there are multiple choices of what you can do, and a couple of choices of what kind of webmail software to use.
- How can this all be for free*?
As mentioned above, the offer is to give something back to the city of Tacloban, that gave so much to the main entity of Tacloban.Biz. There certainly are some conditions (as listed below in the Terms & Conditions) for any of the services to actually be given, but these conditions are only to protect Tacloban.Biz. Keep in mind, the main focus of the offers is the full service. * Please see the "Terms & Conditions" for more information.
- What's the best way to contact Tacloban.Biz?
The best way to contact Tacloban.Biz is via email. Email is generally checked everyday, so a response should not take to long. However, please be patient if there are any unforeseeable delays.
- Confused about some of the points in the terms and conditions below?
To explain about some of the points below (those relating to payment / charges / cost). It will always be Tacloban.Biz's plan to offer these services freely, however, if the cost of doing this exceeds the ability of Tacloban.Biz to meet these costs, there is the risk of the entire offer disappearing. If this was to happen, then everyone would loose everything. Far better for everyone to chip in with a donation of some sort to keep this whole thing going. Hopefully it will never come to this stage, but it is better to be prepared, then wait and see. Also, although generally speaking this offer is free, if a client wishes to make a donation, please contact Tacloban.Biz via email - donations will be happily accepted.
